I put a single-coil detection to spot a humbucker?

I have an electric guitar pacifica 112v and I wanted to know if I could change the humbucker pickups to single coil, because I think the humbucker has a coil tap … (Is that when the button is pushed tone in one of his pickup and pulled out of the humbucker?? I do not really know what I mean … sorry). also, I could put a Stratocaster pickguard on it without having to drill holes? if I do then I'm going, but I wonder if there was an alternative …
