Shoulder bag – how to use and take care of it

Having a shoulder bag is not limited to women who want to set a specific fashion trend. Today, men and women can use shoulder bags depending on their needs and sense of style. And picking out the perfect shoulder bag would be easy as long as the need has been determined.

Purses are available in two types; the first type is called the large purses. These are perfect for carrying a lot of things, and are usually made from cotton or canvas. The second type is known as small purses which can be used to store or carry a smaller or lesser number of things. Both types are made with slings or straps that can be worn across or just over the shoulders for convenience. Mostly used by women, these bags come in different shapes and colors, which can be easily mixed and matched with almost any type of clothing. These types of shoulder bag can be used for formal and casual settings.

Some shoulder bags are used to store papers, gadgets like laptops and even clothing for travel. These shoulder bags are larger than the purses and are usually made using stronger materials because of the weight that are designed to carry.

Shoulder bags should not be exposed or soaked in water for a very long time. Water causes damage to the material, making it susceptible to molds, cracks and rust. In cases when bags do get wet, by rain water for example, they should be immediately wiped with an absorbent cloth or paper towel and should not be placed in humid or damp areas. Letting a wet shoulder bag air dry is essential when it comes to keeping it well maintained.

A shoulder bag, or any bag for that matter, is also sensitive to heat. An example is leaving a bag under the sun for a few hours will cause breaks, cracks and discoloration. A shoulder bag exposed to high heat will make the materials brittle and sometime will cause the material to melt and transfer its colors on to the skin or other things. To avoid these from happening, bags should be kept away from direct heat or long exposure to the sun.

Even the cold weather can be damaging to a shoulder bag. Cold damp weather can make the bag crack and too much humidity will cause canvas to flake.

The best care for shoulder bags is to place them in individual bag cases and wrap them in dry cotton towels. Store bags in dry and well aired places and away from other factors that can damage them like: termites, pets, and ants among other things.

A shoulder bag can serve its user for a long time as long as it is well kept and used for the right purposes. It is so flexible that it can blend well with almost any style.
